About these figures
Notes on the IEC's figures for this page
special votes 21 226 · All 2 480 voting districts in · the IEC marks the results complete
In local elections the IEC adds votes across the ward, PR and district ballots, so we show valid votes per ballot instead of one "votes cast" total.
Turnout is calculated as PR ballots cast ÷ registered voters, from the IEC's results for the 2 480 voting districts here (3 107 134 of 5 592 676). The IEC publishes 55.8%.
The change beside the headline is the difference between the leading party's share here and its share in the 2006 election for the same province, both from the IEC's counts, with no votes re-allocated between boundaries.
Note: party 0: the IEC's cross-ballot total 39414 differs from its ward + PR + DC 40% votes (39489); we show each ballot's own votes.
Note: IEC TotalValidVotes 6592717 differs from the sum of party rows 6592642 by -75; we show per-ballot sums of party rows and do not publish the cross-ballot total.
Note: Emfuleni: party 0: the IEC's cross-ballot total 9594 differs from its ward + PR + DC 40% votes (9644); we show each ballot's own votes.
Note: Emfuleni: IEC TotalValidVotes 551746 differs from the sum of party rows 551696 by -50; we show per-ballot sums of party rows and do not publish the cross-ballot total.
Note: City of Johannesburg: party 0: the IEC's cross-ballot total 9994 differs from its ward + PR + DC 40% votes (10019); we show each ballot's own votes.
