About these figures
Notes on the IEC's figures for this page
Votes cast 2 049 097 · spoilt 21 518 · special votes 53 768 · All 1 542 voting districts in · the IEC marks the results complete
The change beside the headline is the difference between the leading party's share here and its share in the 2004 election for the same province, both from the IEC's counts, with no votes re-allocated between boundaries.
Total is the sum of the seats the IEC allocated to parties.
Note: City of Cape Town: the IEC's national ballot percentages imply 1348762 valid votes, not the 1351922 it counts (DA 51.04% vs 50.92%, ANC 32.84% vs 32.76%, COPE 8.71% vs 8.69%); we show percentages of the counted votes.
