UPDATE: FIELD INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AT PHOENIX 3 AND 4 RESERVOIRS
A major leak has been identified on the trunk main that supplies the Phoenix 3 and 4 Reservoirs. This trunk main is located alongside a river near the Phoenix Highway.
The leak was identified following a thorough investigation and troubleshooting of the system to determine the cause of reduced inflows into the reservoirs, which resulted in the interruption of water supply.
The City鈥檚 Water Services Directorate has isolated the 600mm trunk main (pipeline) to allow for river diversion and repair.
The team is on site and expediting all necessary work.
Water will be restored when the repairs have been completed.
However, restoration will vary with areas supplied through the Phoenix 3 Reservoir expected to be first to receive water this evening, 19 September. This will be followed by areas supplied by the Phoenix 4 Reservoir who should have water restored by Saturday, 20 September.
Affected areas include:
Phoenix 4 reservoir:
Bhambayi, Amaoti, Westham, Fernham, Whestone, Brooksfarm, Northcroft, parts of Sunford, Brookdale, Palmview, Satri Park, Trenance Manor.
Phoenix 3 reservoir : Redfern, parts of Northcroft, Bridge City, Mt Royal, Phoenix Industrial Park, and KwaMashu crossroads.
The Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused.
